HMC nasogastric tubes. It’s time for the upgrade: from class IIa to class IIb

HMC has recently obtained from the Notified Body IMQ the extension of the CE certification for its nasogastric tubes: this is involving an upgrade of in the intended use from short-term duration (up to 30 days) to long-term duration (over 30 days).

The tests and trials carried out have returned positive results for the safe use of the devices well beyond the 30 days required by the definition.

An important and natural consequence of the extension of the duration of the nasogastric tubes is the change of classification, in accordance with Directive 93/42 / EC and subsequent updates, which allows the device to make the leap from Class IIa to Class IIb.
