Every 3 seconds, a baby is lost before it’s even born.
This profoundly traumatic loss touches families worldwide, yet it remains a silent, neglected issue. For mothers, the grief is staggering, leaving them four times more likely to suffer from depression, seven times more prone to post-traumatic stress disorder, and at five times higher risk of suicide.
Early baby loss is not just the loss of a child – it is the loss of dreams, hopes, and a future imagined. The emotional toll is compounded by societal silence, leaving families feeling lost and alone in an intangible grief.
Medicina, a leading provider of neonatal medical devices, is proud to present the creation of Still Loved, an initiative dedicated to honouring the babies lost in early pregnancy, ensuring their love continues to shine.
As a company deeply rooted in neonatal care, Medicina’s mission has always been to support babies and their families during the most vulnerable moments of life. But for every baby who receives care, there are countless others who don’t make it that far. And for those families, grief often goes unseen and unspoken.
Still Loved was created to break that silence. At the heart of the initiative is a bespoke digital nebula, where parents can add a star in memory of their baby, turning lives measured in weeks into love measured in weeks. Each star is a profound reminder that these babies existed, were loved, and are still remembered.
The initiative launched on Mother’s Day, a poignant day for grieving families, as a way to honour all the babies Still Loved and all those who are Still Mothers. On 29th March, the initiative lit up the skies at The Printworks in Manchester, transforming digital billboards into a radiant display of stars, each one representing a little life lost.
Through Still Loved, Medicina hopes to not only raise awareness of early baby loss but also inspire more conversations, more understanding, and more recognition of these brief but deeply loved lives.
